It is unclear to me that the way method call privacy checking is done
makes any sense, though. It is only performed if the type is a
struct...

24e85ac82d auto merge of #6880 : thomaslee/rust/issue-6745, r=catamorphism
This fixes #6745, which itself relates to #4202. Slightly ham-fisted -- feel particularly funny about using the typeck phase to gather the base -> impl mapping, and the separate code paths for traits vs. "real" bases feels like it could be avoided -- but it seems to work.

As always, open to suggestions if there's a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do.

6965fe4bce Add AbiSet and integrate it into the AST.
I believe this patch incorporates all expected syntax changes from extern
function reform (#3678). You can now write things like:

    extern "<abi>" fn foo(s: S) -> T { ... }
    extern "<abi>" mod { ... }
    extern "<abi>" fn(S) -> T

The ABI for foreign functions is taken from this syntax (rather than from an
annotation). We support the full ABI specification I described on the mailing
list. The correct ABI is chosen based on the target architecture.

Calls by pointer to C functions are not yet supported, and the Rust type of
crust fns is still *u8.

6aa612a909 auto merge of #5461 : catamorphism/rust/flagless, r=nikomatsakis
r? @nikomatsakis The typechecker previously passed around a boolean return flag to
indicate whether it saw something with type _|_ (that is, something
it knows at compile-time will definitely diverge) and also had some
manual checks for the `ty_err` pseudo-type that represents a previous
type error. This was because the typing rules implemented by the
typechecker didn't properly propagate _|_ and ty_err. I fixed it.

This also required changing expected error messages in a few tests,
as now we're printing out fewer derived errors -- in fact, at this
point we should print out no derived errors, so report any that
you see (ones that include "[type error]") as bugs.

a30ea013f5 Handle supertrait calls in default methods
Add a new method_super origin for supertrait methods. Also make
coherence create a table that maps pairs of trait IDs and self types
to impl IDs, so that it's possible to check a supertrait method
knowing only its index in its trait's methods (without knowing all
supertraits for a given trait).

eb4d39e1fe libstd: Remove "dual impls" from the language and enforce coherence rules. r=brson
"Dual impls" are impls that are both type implementations and trait
implementations. They can lead to ambiguity and so this patch removes them
from the language.

This also enforces coherence rules. Without this patch, records can implement
traits not defined in the current crate. This patch fixes this, and updates
all of rustc to adhere to the new enforcement. Most of this patch is fixing
rustc to obey the coherence rules, which involves converting a bunch of records
to structs.

2b92962aa2 A collection of refactorings that I found it hard/tiresome to divide:
- Make `extern fn()` assignable to any closure type, rather than
  a subtype.
- Remove unused int_ty_set and float_ty_set
- Refactor variable unification and make it more DRY
- Do fn sub/lub/glb on the level of fn_sig
- Rename infer::to_str::ToStr to infer::to_str::InferStr
- Capitalize names of various types
- Correct hashing of FnMeta
- Convert various records-of-fns into structs-of-fns. This is both
  eliminating use of deprecated features and more forwards compatible
  with fn reform.

697f1e38d6 Change 'native' and 'crust' to 'extern'.
This comes with a terminology change. All linkage-symbols are 'extern'
now, including rust syms in other crates. Some extern ABIs are
merely "foreign". The term "native" is retired, not clear/useful.

What was "crust" is now "extern" applied to a _definition_. This
is a bit of an overloading, but should be unambiguous: it means
that the definition should be made available to some non-rust ABI.

e5a5fc2029 Allow impls to be re-exported
It was a little hard for me to believe, but it seems that re-exporting
an impl doesn't work at a, because encoder::encode_info_for_mod requires
that all the impls in the current module's impl map be local (that is,
bound to a value in the current crate's item map). Fixed it.

6f95c79b95 Traverse types in reachability
Issue 2526 showed a test case where a library exported only a type
that was a synonym for a class. Because the class's destructor wasn't
getting marked as reachable, its linkage was wrongly getting set to
"internal". The solution is for reachability to traverse types.
