This patch series does a couple things:

* replaces manual `Hash` implementations with `#[deriving(Hash)]`
* adds `Hash` back to `std::prelude`
* minor cleanup of whitespace and variable names.

b78b749810 Remove all ToStr impls, add Show impls
This commit changes the ToStr trait to:

    impl<T: fmt::Show> ToStr for T {
        fn to_str(&self) -> ~str { format!("{}", *self) }
    }

The ToStr trait has been on the chopping block for quite awhile now, and this is
the final nail in its coffin. The trait and the corresponding method are not
being removed as part of this commit, but rather any implementations of the
`ToStr` trait are being forbidden because of the generic impl. The new way to
get the `to_str()` method to work is to implement `fmt::Show`.

Formatting into a `&mut Writer` (as `format!` does) is much more efficient than
`ToStr` when building up large strings. The `ToStr` trait forces many
intermediate allocations to be made while the `fmt::Show` trait allows
incremental buildup in the same heap allocated buffer. Additionally, the
`fmt::Show` trait is much more extensible in terms of interoperation with other
`Writer` instances and in more situations. By design the `ToStr` trait requires
at least one allocation whereas the `fmt::Show` trait does not require any
allocations.

2a14e084cf Move std::{trie, hashmap} to libcollections
These two containers are indeed collections, so their place is in
libcollections, not in libstd. There will always be a hash map as part of the
standard distribution of Rust, but by moving it out of the standard library it
makes libstd that much more portable to more platforms and environments.

This conveniently also removes the stuttering of 'std::hashmap::HashMap',
although 'collections::HashMap' is only one character shorter.

22d3669b9e auto merge of #11863 : erickt/rust/hash, r=acrichto
This PR merges `IterBytes` and `Hash` into a trait that allows for generic non-stream-based hashing. It makes use of @eddyb's default type parameter support in order to have a similar usage to the old `Hash` framework.

Fixes #8038.

Todo:

- [x] Better documentation
- [ ] Benchmark
- [ ] Parameterize `HashMap` on a `Hasher`.

eb5ba4d269 auto merge of #12366 : aepsil0n/rust/feature/unnecessary_parens_around_assigned_values, r=alexcrichton
Fixes #12350.

Parentheses around assignment statements such as

```rust
let mut a = (0);
a = (1);
a += (2);
```

are not necessary and therefore an unnecessary_parens warning is raised when
statements like this occur.

NOTE: In `let` declarations this does not work as intended. Is it possible that they do not count as assignment expressions (`ExprAssign`)? (edit: this is fixed by now)

Furthermore, there are some cases that I fixed in the rest of the code, where parentheses could potentially enhance readability. Compare these lines:

```rust
a = b == c;
a = (b == c);
```

Thus, after having worked on this I'm not entirely sure, whether we should go through with this patch or not. Probably a matter of debate. ;)

Not all of those messages are covered by tests. I am not sure how to trigger them and where to put those tests.

Also some message patterns in the existing tests are not complete.
For example, i find `error: mismatched types: expected "i32" but found "char" (expected i32 but found char)` a bit repetitive, but as i can see there is no test covering that.

9982de6397 Warn about unnecessary parentheses upon assignment
Closes #12366.

Parentheses around assignment statements such as

    let mut a = (0);
    a = (1);
    a += (2);

are not necessary and therefore an unnecessary_parens warning is raised when
statements like this occur.

The warning mechanism was refactored along the way to allow for code reuse
between the routines for checking expressions and statements.

Code had to be adopted throughout the compiler and standard libraries to comply
with this modification of the lint.

d223dd1e57 std: rewrite Hash to make it more generic
This patch merges IterBytes and Hash traits, which clears up the
confusion of using `#[deriving(IterBytes)]` to support hashing.
Instead, it now is much easier to use the new `#[deriving(Hash)]`
for making a type hashable with a stream hash.

Furthermore, it supports custom non-stream-based hashers, such as
if a value's hash was cached in a database.

This does not yet replace the old IterBytes-hash with this new
version.

111e092481 Change the format_args! macro expansion for temporaries
Currently, the format_args! macro and its downstream macros in turn
expand to series of let statements, one for each of its arguments, and
then the invocation of the macro function. If one or more of the
arguments are RefCell's, the enclosing statement for the temporary of
the let is the let itself, which leads to scope problem. This patch
changes let's to a match expression.

968633b60a Replace crate usage with krate
This patch replaces all `crate` usage with `krate` before introducing the
new keyword. This ensures that after introducing the keyword, there

krate might not be the most expressive substitution for crate but it's a
very close abbreviation for it. `module` was already used in several
places already.

5a618129b8 auto merge of #11832 : jfager/rust/r5900, r=alexcrichton
I tried a couple of different ways to squash this, and still don't think this is ideal, but I wanted to get it out for feedback.

Closes #5900
Closes #9942

There are a few scenarios where the compiler tries to evaluate CastExprs without the corresponding types being available yet in the type context: https://github.com/mozilla/rust/issues/10618, https://github.com/mozilla/rust/issues/5900, https://github.com/mozilla/rust/issues/9942

This PR takes the approach of having eval_const_expr_partial's CastExpr arm fall back to a limited ast_ty_to_ty call that only checks for (a subset of) valid const types, when the direct type lookup fails. It's kind of hacky, so I understand if you don't want to take this as is. I'd need a little mentoring to get this into better shape, as figuring out the proper fix has been a little daunting. I'm also happy if someone else wants to pick this up and run with it.

This closes 5900 and 9942, but only moves the goalposts a little on 10618, which now falls over in a later phase of the compiler.

If it's a trait method, this checks the stability attribute of the
method inside the trait definition. Otherwise, it checks the method
implementation itself.

faf4c939fb auto merge of #10670 : eddyb/rust/node-u32, r=alexcrichton
### Rationale
There is no reason to support more than 2³² nodes or names at this moment, as compiling something that big (even without considering the quadratic space usage of some analysis passes) would take at least **64GB**.
Meanwhile, some can't (or barely can) compile rustc because it requires almost **1.5GB**.

### Potential problems
Can someone confirm this doesn't affect metadata (de)serialization? I can't tell myself, I know nothing about it.

### Results
Some structures have a size reduction of 25% to 50%: [before](https://gist.github.com/luqmana/3a82a51fa9c86d9191fa) - [after](https://gist.github.com/eddyb/5a75f8973d3d8018afd3).
Sadly, there isn't a massive change in the memory used for compiling stage2 librustc (it doesn't go over **1.4GB** as [before](http://huonw.github.io/isrustfastyet/mem/), but I can barely see the difference).
However, my own testcase (previously peaking at **1.6GB** in typeck) shows a reduction of **200**-**400MB**.

af62adfad0 auto merge of #9788 : geoffhill/rust/bare-fn-cast, r=pnkfelix
Bare functions are another example of a scalar but non-numeric
type (like char) that should be handled separately in casts.
This disallows expressions like `0 as extern "Rust" fn() -> int;`.

It might be advantageous to allow casts between bare functions
and raw pointers in unsafe code in the future, to pass function
pointers between Rust and C.
