56290a0044 std: Stabilize the prelude module
This commit is an implementation of [RFC 503][rfc] which is a stabilization
story for the prelude. Most of the RFC was directly applied, removing reexports.
Some reexports are kept around, however:

* `range` remains until range syntax has landed to reduce churn.
* `Path` and `GenericPath` remain until path reform lands. This is done to
  prevent many imports of `GenericPath` which will soon be removed.
* All `io` traits remain until I/O reform lands so imports can be rewritten all
  at once to `std::io::prelude::*`.

This is a breaking change because many prelude reexports have been removed, and
the RFC can be consulted for the exact list of removed reexports, as well as to
find the locations of where to import them.

7f6177e646 Fix fallout from changes. In cases where stage0 compiler is needed, we
cannot use an `as` expression to coerce, so I used a one-off function
instead (this is a no-op in stage0, but in stage1+ it triggers
coercion from the fn pointer to the fn item type).

096a28607f librustc: Make Copy opt-in.
This change makes the compiler no longer infer whether types (structures
and enumerations) implement the `Copy` trait (and thus are implicitly
copyable). Rather, you must implement `Copy` yourself via `impl Copy for
MyType {}`.

A new warning has been added, `missing_copy_implementations`, to warn
you if a non-generic public type has been added that could have
implemented `Copy` but didn't.

For convenience, you may *temporarily* opt out of this behavior by using
`#![feature(opt_out_copy)]`. Note though that this feature gate will never be
accepted and will be removed by the time that 1.0 is released, so you should
transition your code away from using it.

This breaks code like:

    #[deriving(Show)]
    struct Point2D {
        x: int,
        y: int,
    }

    fn main() {
        let mypoint = Point2D {
            x: 1,
            y: 1,
        };
        let otherpoint = mypoint;
        println!("{}{}", mypoint, otherpoint);
    }

Change this code to:

    #[deriving(Show)]
    struct Point2D {
        x: int,
        y: int,
    }

    impl Copy for Point2D {}

    fn main() {
        let mypoint = Point2D {
            x: 1,
            y: 1,
        };
        let otherpoint = mypoint;
        println!("{}{}", mypoint, otherpoint);
    }

This is the backwards-incompatible part of #13231.

Part of RFC #3.

function.

7828c3dd28 Rename fail! to panic!
https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/221

The current terminology of "task failure" often causes problems when
writing or speaking about code. You often want to talk about the
possibility of an operation that returns a Result "failing", but cannot
because of the ambiguity with task failure. Instead, you have to speak
of "the failing case" or "when the operation does not succeed" or other
circumlocutions.

Likewise, we use a "Failure" header in rustdoc to describe when
operations may fail the task, but it would often be helpful to separate
out a section describing the "Err-producing" case.

We have been steadily moving away from task failure and toward Result as
an error-handling mechanism, so we should optimize our terminology
accordingly: Result-producing functions should be easy to describe.

To update your code, rename any call to `fail!` to `panic!` instead.
Assuming you have not created your own macro named `panic!`, this
will work on UNIX based systems:

    grep -lZR 'fail!' . | xargs -0 -l sed -i -e 's/fail!/panic!/g'

You can of course also do this by hand.

ce0907e46e Add enum variants to the type namespace
Change to resolve and update compiler and libs for uses.

[breaking-change]

Enum variants are now in both the value and type namespaces. This means that
if you have a variant with the same name as a type in scope in a module, you
will get a name clash and thus an error. The solution is to either rename the
type or the variant.

7f928d150e librustc: Forbid external crates, imports, and/or items from being
declared with the same name in the same scope.

This breaks several common patterns. First are unused imports:

    use foo::bar;
    use baz::bar;

Change this code to the following:

    use baz::bar;

Second, this patch breaks globs that import names that are shadowed by
subsequent imports. For example:

    use foo::*; // including `bar`
    use baz::bar;

Change this code to remove the glob:

    use foo::{boo, quux};
    use baz::bar;

Or qualify all uses of `bar`:

    use foo::{boo, quux};
    use baz;

    ... baz::bar ...

Finally, this patch breaks code that, at top level, explicitly imports
`std` and doesn't disable the prelude.

    extern crate std;

Because the prelude imports `std` implicitly, there is no need to
explicitly import it; just remove such directives.

The old behavior can be opted into via the `import_shadowing` feature
gate. Use of this feature gate is discouraged.

This implements RFC #116.

1f760d5d1a Rename Share to Sync
This leaves the `Share` trait at `std::kinds` via a `#[deprecated]` `pub use`
statement, but the `NoShare` struct is no longer part of `std::kinds::marker`
due to #12660 (the build cannot bootstrap otherwise).

All code referencing the `Share` trait should now reference the `Sync` trait,
and all code referencing the `NoShare` type should now reference the `NoSync`
type. The functionality and meaning of this trait have not changed, only the
naming.

This adds support for `quote_arm!(cx, $pat => $expr)`, and `macro_rules!(($a:arm) => (...))`. It also fixes a bug in pretty printing, where this would generate invalid code:

```
    _ => 3,
}
```

It would generate this code:

```
match { 5i } {
    1 => 2
    _ => 3
}
```

Finally, it adds a couple helper methods to `ExtCtxt`.

b53454e2e4 Move std::{reflect,repr,Poly} to a libdebug crate
This commit moves reflection (as well as the {:?} format modifier) to a new
libdebug crate, all of which is marked experimental.

This is a breaking change because it now requires the debug crate to be
explicitly linked if the :? format qualifier is used. This means that any code
using this feature will have to add `extern crate debug;` to the top of the
crate. Any code relying on reflection will also need to do this.

a7d68adbdd auto merge of #9336 : alexcrichton/rust/issue-7981, r=catamorphism
Progress on #7981

This doesn't completely close the issue because `struct A;` is still allowed, and it's a much larger change to disallow that. I'm also not entirely sure that we want to disallow that. Regardless, punting that discussion to the issue instead.

823ebb14ba pp: also print bounds in paths with no generic params
Since 3b6314c3 the pretty printer seems to only print trait bounds for
`ast::ty_path(...)`s that have a generics arguments list. That seems
wrong, so let's always print them.

Closes #9253, un-xfails test for #7673.

I removed the `static-method-test.rs` test because it was heavily based
