9348700007 std: Expand the area of std::fs
This commit is an implementation of [RFC 1044][rfc] which adds additional
surface area to the `std::fs` module. All new APIs are `#[unstable]` behind
assorted feature names for each one.

[rfc]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/1044

The new APIs added are:

* `fs::canonicalize` - bindings to `realpath` on unix and
  `GetFinalPathNameByHandle` on windows.
* `fs::symlink_metadata` - similar to `lstat` on unix
* `fs::FileType` and accessor methods as `is_{file,dir,symlink}`
* `fs::Metadata::file_type` - accessor for the raw file type
* `fs::DirEntry::metadata` - acquisition of metadata which is free on Windows
  but requires a syscall on unix.
* `fs::DirEntry::file_type` - access the file type which may not require a
  syscall on most platforms.
* `fs::DirEntry::file_name` - access just the file name without leading
  components.
* `fs::PathExt::symlink_metadata` - convenience method for the top-level
  function.
* `fs::PathExt::canonicalize` - convenience method for the top-level
  function.
* `fs::PathExt::read_link` - convenience method for the top-level
  function.
* `fs::PathExt::read_dir` - convenience method for the top-level
  function.
* `std::os::raw` - type definitions for raw OS/C types available on all
  platforms.
* `std::os::$platform` - new modules have been added for all currently supported
  platforms (e.g. those more specific than just `unix`).
* `std::os::$platform::raw` - platform-specific type definitions. These modules
  are populated with the bare essentials necessary for lowing I/O types into
  their raw representations, and currently largely consist of the `stat`
  definition for unix platforms.

This commit also deprecates `Metadata::{modified, accessed}` in favor of
inspecting the raw representations via the lowering methods of `Metadata`.

eeb94886ad std: Remove deprecated/unstable num functionality
This commit removes all the old casting/generic traits from `std::num` that are
no longer in use by the standard library. This additionally removes the old
`strconv` module which has not seen much use in quite a long time. All generic
functionality has been supplanted with traits in the `num` crate and the
`strconv` module is supplanted with the [rust-strconv crate][rust-strconv].

[rust-strconv]: https://github.com/lifthrasiir/rust-strconv

This is a breaking change due to the removal of these deprecated crates, and the
alternative crates are listed above.

9ab0475d94 rustc: Handle duplicate names merging archives
When linking an archive statically to an rlib, the compiler will extract all
contents of the archive and add them all to the rlib being generated. The
current method of extraction is to run `ar x`, dumping all files into a
temporary directory. Object archives, however, are allowed to have multiple
entries with the same file name, so there is no method for them to extract their
contents into a directory in a lossless fashion.

This commit adds iterator support to the `ArchiveRO` structure which hooks into
LLVM's support for reading object archives. This iterator is then used to
inspect each object in turn and extract it to a unique location for later
assembly.

c897ac04e2 Auto merge of #24177 - alexcrichton:rustdoc, r=aturon
This commit series starts out with more official test harness support for rustdoc tests, and then each commit afterwards adds a test (where appropriate). Each commit should also test and finish independently of all others (they're all pretty separable).

I've uploaded a [copy of the documentation](http://people.mozilla.org/~acrichton/doc/std/) generated after all these commits were applied, and a double check on issues being closed would be greatly appreciated! I'll also browse the docs a bit and make sure nothing regressed too horribly.

Encode more precise scoping rules for function params

Function params outlive everything in the body (incl temporaries). 75ef0832ae rustdoc: Improve handling inlined associated types
* All bounds are now discovered through the trait to be inlined.
* The `?Sized` bound now renders correctly for inlined associated types.
* All `QPath`s (`<A as B>::C`) instances are rendered as `A::C` where `C` is a
  hyperlink to the trait `B`. This should improve at least how the docs look at
  least.
* Supertrait bounds are now separated and display as the source lists them.

b49a5ef003 Auto merge of #23857 - phildawes:libsyntax_nopanic, r=nikomatsakis
Hello!

I've been working towards a libsyntax without panics. See:
http://internals.rust-lang.org/t/changing-libsyntax-to-use-result-instead-of-panic/1670

This patch changes the internals of parser.rs to use Result<> rather than panicing. It keeps the following old-style panicing functions as a facade:
parse_expr, parse_item, parse_pat, parse_arm, parse_ty, parse_stmt

I left these functions because I wasn't sure what to do about the quote_* macros or how many syntax-extensions would break if these and quoting macros returned Result.

The gyst of the rest of the patch is:

 - Functions in parse/parser.rs return PResult<> rather than panicing
 - Other functions in libsyntax call panic! explicitly if they rely on panicing behaviour.
 - I added a macro 'panictry!()' to act as scaffolding for callers while converting panicing functions. (This does the same as 'unwrap()' but is easier to grep for and turn into try!()).

Am I on the right track? I'd quite like to get something merged soon as keeping this rebased in the face of libsyntax changes is a lot of work. Please let me know what changes you'd like to see to make this happen.

Thanks!, Phil

80bf31dd51 Auto merge of #23549 - aturon:stab-num, r=alexcrichton
This commit stabilizes the `std::num` module:

* The `Int` and `Float` traits are deprecated in favor of (1) the
  newly-added inherent methods and (2) the generic traits available in
  rust-lang/num.

* The `Zero` and `One` traits are reintroduced in `std::num`, which
  together with various other traits allow you to recover the most
  common forms of generic programming.

* The `FromStrRadix` trait, and associated free function, is deprecated
  in favor of inherent implementations.

* A wide range of methods and constants for both integers and floating
  point numbers are now `#[stable]`, having been adjusted for integer
  guidelines.

* `is_positive` and `is_negative` are renamed to `is_sign_positive` and
  `is_sign_negative`, in order to address #22985

* The `Wrapping` type is moved to `std::num` and stabilized;
  `WrappingOps` is deprecated in favor of inherent methods on the
  integer types, and direct implementation of operations on
  `Wrapping<X>` for each concrete integer type `X`.

b24a3b8201 rustc: Remove support for hyphens in crate names
This commit removes parser support for `extern crate "foo" as bar` as the
renamed crate is now required to be an identifier. Additionally this commit
enables hard errors on crate names that contain hyphens in them, they must now
solely contain alphanumeric characters or underscores.

If the crate name is inferred from the file name, however, the file name
`foo-bar.rs` will have the crate name inferred as `foo_bar`. If a binary is
being emitted it will have the name `foo-bar` and a library will have the name
`libfoo_bar.rlib`.

This commit is a breaking change for a number of reasons:

* Old syntax is being removed. This was previously only issuing warnings.
* The output for the compiler when input is received on stdin is now `rust_out`
  instead of `rust-out`.
* The crate name for a crate in the file `foo-bar.rs` is now `foo_bar` which can
  affect infrastructure such as logging.

eb2f1d925f rustc: Add support for extern crate foo as bar
The compiler will now issue a warning for crates that have syntax of the form
`extern crate "foo" as bar`, but it will still continue to accept this syntax.
Additionally, the string `foo-bar` will match the crate name `foo_bar` to assist
in the transition period as well.

This patch will land hopefully in tandem with a Cargo patch that will start
translating all crate names to have underscores instead of hyphens.

This is a [breaking-change]. When indexing a generic map (hashmap, etc) using the `[]` operator, it is now necessary to borrow explicitly, so change `map[key]` to `map[&key]` (consistent with the `get` routine). However, indexing of string-valued maps with constant strings can now be written `map["abc"]`.

8389253df0 Add generic conversion traits
This commit:

* Introduces `std::convert`, providing an implementation of
RFC 529.

* Deprecates the `AsPath`, `AsOsStr`, and `IntoBytes` traits, all
in favor of the corresponding generic conversion traits.

  Consequently, various IO APIs now take `AsRef<Path>` rather than
`AsPath`, and so on. Since the types provided by `std` implement both
traits, this should cause relatively little breakage.

* Deprecates many `from_foo` constructors in favor of `from`.

* Changes `PathBuf::new` to take no argument (creating an empty buffer,
  as per convention). The previous behavior is now available as
  `PathBuf::from`.

* De-stabilizes `IntoCow`. It's not clear whether we need this separate trait.

3e4be02b80 Auto merge of #23292 - alexcrichton:stabilize-io, r=aturon
The new `std::io` module has had some time to bake now, and this commit
stabilizes its functionality. There are still portions of the module which
remain unstable, and below contains a summart of the actions taken.

This commit also deprecates the entire contents of the `old_io` module in a
blanket fashion. All APIs should now have a reasonable replacement in the
new I/O modules.

Stable APIs:

* `std::io` (the name)
* `std::io::prelude` (the name)
* `Read`
* `Read::read`
* `Read::{read_to_end, read_to_string}` after being modified to return a `usize`

* `Write for Stderr`
* `Write for StderrLock`
* `io::Result`
* `io::Error`
* `io::Error::last_os_error`
* `{Display, Error} for Error`

Unstable APIs:

(reasons can be found in the commit itself)

* `Write::flush`
* `Seek`
* `ErrorKind`
* `Error::new`
* `Error::from_os_error`
* `Error::kind`

Deprecated APIs

* `Error::description` - available via the `Error` trait

* `thread::Builder::{stdout, stderr}`

Changes in functionality:

* `old_io::stdio::set_stderr` is now a noop as the infrastructure for printing

dbec033e29 Change the data structures for tracking defaulted traits. In the tcx, we
now have a simple set of trait def-ids. During coherence, we use a
separate table to track the default impls for any given trait so that we
can report a nice error. This fixes various bugs in the metadata
encoding that led to `ty::trait_has_default_impl` yielding the wrong
values in the cross-crate case. (In particular, default impl def-ids
were not included in the list of all impl def-ids; I debated fixing just
that, but this approach seemed cleaner overall, since we usually treat
the "defaulted" bit on traits as being a property of the trait, and now
iterating over a list of impls doesn't intermingle default impls with
normal impls.)

        () => { unstable() } // warning
    }

    foo!(unstable()) // warning

The unstable inside `foo` is fine, due to the attribute. But the
`unstable` inside `only_called_by_foo` is not, since that macro doesn't
have the attribute, and the `unstable` passed into `foo` is also not
fine since it isn't contained in the macro itself (that is, even though
it is only used directly in the macro).

In the process this makes the stability tracking much more precise,
e.g. previously `println!("{}", unstable())` got no warning, but now it
does. As such, this is a bug fix that may cause [breaking-change]s.

The attribute is definitely feature gated, since it explicitly allows
side-stepping the feature gating system.

---

This updates `thread_local!` macro to use the attribute, since it uses
unstable features internally (initialising a struct with unstable
fields).

f0c74f85f3 Auto merge of #23026 - nikomatsakis:issue-20220-supertrait, r=nikomatsakis
The main gist of this PR is commit 1077efb which removes the list of supertraits from the `TraitDef` and pulls them into a separate table, which is accessed via `lookup_super_predicates`. This is analogous to `lookup_predicates`, which gets the complete where clause. This allows us to create the `TraitDef`, which contains the list generics and so forth, without fully knowing the list of supertraits. This in turn allows the *supertrait listing* to contain references to associated types like `<Self as Foo>::Item`, which were previously impossible because conversion required having the `TraitDef` for `Foo`.

We do not yet support `Self::Item` in a supertrait listing. This doesn't work because to convert that, it attempts to expand out the full set of supertraits, which are in the process of being created. This could potentially be worked out by having the expansion of supertraits proceed in a lazy fashion, but we'd have to define shadowing rules for associated types which we don't currently have.

Along the way (in 9de9ec5) I also removed the restriction against duplicate bounds and generalized the code so that it can handle having the same supertrait multiple times with different arguments, e.g. `Foo : Bar<i32> + Bar<u32>`. This restriction was serving no particular purpose, since the same trait could be extended multiple times indirectly, and in the era of multidispatch it is actively harmful.

This is technically a [breaking-change] because it affects the definition of a super-trait. Anything in a where clause that looks like `where Self : Foo` is now considered a supertrait. Because cycles are disallowed in supertraits, that could lead to some errors. This has not been observed in any existing code.

84b060ce29 Add #[allow_internal_unstable] to track stability for macros better.
Unstable items used in a macro expansion will now always trigger
stability warnings, *unless* the unstable items are directly inside a
macro marked with `#[allow_internal_unstable]`. IOW, the compiler warns
unless the span of the unstable item is a subspan of the definition of a
macro marked with that attribute.

E.g.

    #[allow_internal_unstable]
    macro_rules! foo {
        ($e: expr) => {{
            $e;
            unstable(); // no warning
            only_called_by_foo!();
        }}
    }

    macro_rules! only_called_by_foo {
        () => { unstable() } // warning
    }

    foo!(unstable()) // warning

The attribute is definitely feature gated, since it explicitly allows
side-stepping the feature gating system.

its new functionality. Some functions remain non-deprecated but are now behind a
feature gate called `old_fs`. These functions will be deprecated once
suitable replacements have been implemented.

The compiler has been migrated to new `std::fs` and `std::path` APIs where
appropriate as part of this change.

us to construct trait-references and do other things without forcing a

we must invoke `ensure_super_predicates` before using any construct that
might require knowing about the super-predicates.

This allows to create proper debuginfo line information for items inlined from other crates (e.g. instantiations of generics).
Only the codemap's 'metadata' is stored in a crate's metadata. That is, just filename, line-beginnings, etc. but not the actual source code itself. We are thus missing the opportunity of making Rust the first "open-source-only" programming language out there. Pity.

1246d4067f Add core::num::wrapping and fix overflow errors.
Many of the core rust libraries have places that rely on integer
wrapping behaviour. These places have been altered to use the wrapping_*
methods:

 * core:#️⃣:sip - A number of macros
 * core::str - The `maximal_suffix` method in `TwoWaySearcher`
 * rustc::util::nodemap - Implementation of FnvHash
 * rustc_back::sha2 - A number of macros and other places
 * rand::isaac - Isaac64Rng, changed to use the Wrapping helper type

Some places had "benign" underflow. This is when underflow or overflow
occurs, but the unspecified value is not used due to other conditions.

 * collections::bit::Bitv - underflow when `self.nbits` is zero.
 * collections:#️⃣:{map,table} - Underflow when searching an empty
   table. Did cause undefined behaviour in this case due to an
   out-of-bounds ptr::offset based on the underflowed index. However the
   resulting pointers would never be read from.
 * syntax::ext::deriving::encodable - Underflow when calculating the
   index of the last field in a variant with no fields.

These cases were altered to avoid the underflow, often by moving the
underflowing operation to a place where underflow could not happen.

There was one case that relied on the fact that unsigned arithmetic and
two's complement arithmetic are identical with wrapping semantics. This
was changed to use the wrapping_* methods.

Finally, the calculation of variant discriminants could overflow if the
preceeding discriminant was `U64_MAX`. The logic in `rustc::middle::ty`
for this was altered to avoid the overflow completely, while the
remaining places were changed to use wrapping methods. This is because
`rustc::middle::ty::enum_variants` now throws an error when the
calculated discriminant value overflows a `u64`.

This behaviour can be triggered by the following code:

```
enum Foo {
  A = U64_MAX,
  B
}
```

This commit also implements the remaining integer operators for
Wrapped<T>.

84e9a61e9c metadata: Implement relaxation of short RBML lengths.
We try to move the data when the length can be encoded in
the much smaller number of bytes. This interferes with indices and
type abbreviations however, so this commit introduces a public
interface to get and mark a "stable" (i.e. not affected by
relaxation) position of the current pointer.

The relaxation logic only moves a small data, currently at most
256 bytes, as moving the data can be costly. There might be
further opportunities to allow more relaxation by moving fields
around, which I didn't seriously try.

38a965a747 metadata: New tag encoding scheme.
EBML tags are encoded in a variable-length unsigned int (vuint),
which is clever but causes some tags to be encoded in two bytes
while there are really about 180 tags or so. Assuming that there
wouldn't be, say, over 1,000 tags in the future, we can use much
more efficient encoding scheme. The new scheme should support
at most 4,096 tags anyway.

This also flattens a scattered tag namespace (did you know that
0xa9 is followed by 0xb0?) and makes a room for autoserialized tags
in 0x00 through 0x1f.

ac20ded1f8 metadata: Avoid the use of raw wr_str or write_all.
They are, with a conjunction of `start_tag` and `end_tag`, commonly
used to write a document with a binary data of known size. However
the use of `start_tag` makes the length always 4 bytes long, which
is almost not optimal (requiring the relaxation step to remedy).
Directly using `wr_tagged_*` methods is better for both readability
and resulting metadata size.

This is one more step towards completing #13231

This series of commits add support for default trait implementations. The changes in this PR don't break existing code and they are expected to preserve the existing behavior in the compiler as far as built-in bounds checks go.

The PR adds negative implementations of `Send`/`Sync` for some types and it removes the special cases for `Send`/`Sync` during the trait obligations checks. That is, it now fully relies on the traits check rather than lang items.

Once this patch lands and a new snapshot is created, it'll be possible to add default impls for `Send` and `Sync` and remove entirely the use of `BuiltinBound::{BoundSend,BoundSync}` for positive implementations as well.

This PR also removes the restriction on negative implementations. That is, it is now possible to add negative implementations for traits other than `Send`/`Sync`

f3657170b1 rollup merge of #22482: alexcrichton/cstr-changes
This commit is an implementation of [RFC 592][r592] and [RFC 840][r840]. These
two RFCs tweak the behavior of `CString` and add a new `CStr` unsized slice type
to the module.

[r592]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/blob/master/text/0592-c-str-deref.md
[r840]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/blob/master/text/0840-no-panic-in-c-string.md

The new `CStr` type is only constructable via two methods:

1. By `deref`'ing from a `CString`
2. Unsafely via `CStr::from_ptr`

The purpose of `CStr` is to be an unsized type which is a thin pointer to a
`libc::c_char` (currently it is a fat pointer slice due to implementation
limitations). Strings from C can be safely represented with a `CStr` and an
appropriate lifetime as well. Consumers of `&CString` should now consume `&CStr`
instead to allow producers to pass in C-originating strings instead of just
Rust-allocated strings.

A new constructor was added to `CString`, `new`, which takes `T: IntoBytes`
instead of separate `from_slice` and `from_vec` methods (both have been
deprecated in favor of `new`). The `new` method returns a `Result` instead of
panicking. The error variant contains the relevant information about where the
error happened and bytes (if present). Conversions are provided to the
`io::Error` and `old_io::IoError` types via the `FromError` trait which
translate to `InvalidInput`.

This is a breaking change due to the modification of existing `#[unstable]` APIs
and new deprecation, and more detailed information can be found in the two RFCs.
Notable breakage includes:

* All construction of `CString` now needs to use `new` and handle the outgoing
  `Result`.
* Usage of `CString` as a byte slice now explicitly needs a `.as_bytes()` call.
* The `as_slice*` methods have been removed in favor of just having the
  `as_bytes*` methods.

This commit is an implementation of [RFC 823][rfc] which is another pass over
the `std::hash` module for stabilization. The contents of the module were not
entirely marked stable, but some portions which remained quite similar to the
previous incarnation are now marked `#[stable]`. Specifically:

[rfc]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/blob/master/text/0823-hash-simplification.md

* `std::hash` is now stable (the name)
* `Hash` is now stable
* `Hash::hash` is now stable
* `Hasher` is now stable
* `SipHasher` is now stable
* `SipHasher::new` and `new_with_keys` are now stable
* `Hasher for SipHasher` is now stable
* Many `Hash` implementations are now stable

All other portions of the `hash` module remain `#[unstable]` as they are less
commonly used and were recently redesigned.

This commit is a breaking change due to the modifications to the `std::hash` API
and more details can be found on the [RFC][rfc].

instead to allow producers to pass in C-originating strings instead of just
Rust-allocated strings.

* The `as_slice*` methods have been removed in favor of just having the
  `as_bytes*` methods.

f83e23ad7c std: Stabilize the hash module
This commit is an implementation of [RFC 823][rfc] which is another pass over
the `std::hash` module for stabilization. The contents of the module were not
entirely marked stable, but some portions which remained quite similar to the
previous incarnation are now marked `#[stable]`. Specifically:

[rfc]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/blob/master/text/0823-hash-simplification.md

* `std::hash` is now stable (the name)
* `Hash` is now stable
* `Hash::hash` is now stable
* `Hasher` is now stable
* `SipHasher` is now stable
* `SipHasher::new` and `new_with_keys` are now stable
* `Hasher for SipHasher` is now stable
* Many `Hash` implementations are now stable

All other portions of the `hash` module remain `#[unstable]` as they are less
commonly used and were recently redesigned.

This commit is a breaking change due to the modifications to the `std::hash` API
and more details can be found on the [RFC][rfc].

9492275106 rollup merge of #22188: alexcrichton/envv2
This commit tweaks the interface of the `std::env` module to make it more
ergonomic for common usage:

* `env::var` was renamed to `env::var_os`
* `env::var_string` was renamed to `env::var`
* `env::args` was renamed to `env::args_os`
* `env::args` was re-added as a panicking iterator over string values
* `env::vars` was renamed to `env::vars_os`
* `env::vars` was re-added as a panicking iterator over string values.

This should make common usage (e.g. unicode values everywhere) more ergonomic
as well as "the default". This is also a breaking change due to the differences
of what's yielded from each of these functions, but migration should be fairly
easy as the defaults operate over `String` which is a common type to use.

81383bd869 Added DestructionScope variant to CodeExtent, representing the area
immediately surrounding a node that is a terminating_scope
(e.g. statements, looping forms) during which the destructors run (the
destructors for temporaries from the execution of that node, that is).

Introduced DestructionScopeData newtype wrapper around ast::NodeId, to
preserve invariant that FreeRegion and ScopeChain::BlockScope carry
destruction scopes (rather than arbitrary CodeExtents).

Insert DestructionScope and block Remainder into enclosing CodeExtents
hierarchy.

Add more doc for DestructionScope, complete with ASCII art.

Switch to constructing DestructionScope rather than Misc in a number
of places, mostly related to `ty::ReFree` creation, and use
destruction-scopes of node-ids at various calls to
liberate_late_bound_regions.

middle::resolve_lifetime: Map BlockScope to DestructionScope in `fn resolve_free_lifetime`.

Add the InnermostDeclaringBlock and InnermostEnclosingExpr enums that
are my attempt to clarify the region::Context structure, and that
later commmts build upon.

Improve the debug output for `CodeExtent` attached to `ty::Region::ReScope`.

Loosened an assertion in `rustc_trans::trans::cleanup` to account for
`DestructionScope`. (Perhaps this should just be switched entirely
over to `DestructionScope`, rather than allowing for either `Misc` or
`DestructionScope`.)

----

Even though the DestructionScope is new, this particular commit should
not actually change the semantics of any current code.

The feature gate is still required.

It's almost never correct to link a plugin into the resulting library /

However if you really want this behavior, you can get it with a separate
`extern crate` item in addition to the `plugin` attribute.

The compiler would previously fall back to using `-L` and normal lookup paths if
a `--extern` path was specified but it did not match (wrong architecture, for
example). This commit removes this behavior and forces the hand of the crate
loader to *always* use the `--extern` path if specified, no matter whether it is
correct or not.

This fixes a bug today where the compiler's own libraries are favored in cross
compilation by accident. For example when a crate using the crates.io version of
`log` was cross compiled, Cargo would compile `log` for the target architecture.
When loading the macros, however, the compiler currently favors using the *host*
architecture (for plugins), and because the `--extern log=...` pointed at an
rlib for the target architecture, that lookup failed. The crate loader then
fell back on `-L` paths to find the compiler-used `log` crate (the wrong one!)
and then a compile failure happened because the logging macros are slightly
different.

70ed3a48df std: Add a new env module
This is an implementation of [RFC 578][rfc] which adds a new `std::env` module
to replace most of the functionality in the current `std::os` module. More
details can be found in the RFC itself, but as a summary the following methods
have all been deprecated:

[rfc]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/578

* `os::args_as_bytes`   => `env::args`
* `os::args`            => `env::args`
* `os::consts`          => `env::consts`
* `os::dll_filename`    => no replacement, use `env::consts` directly
* `os::page_size`       => `env::page_size`
* `os::make_absolute`   => use `env::current_dir` + `join` instead
* `os::getcwd`          => `env::current_dir`
* `os::change_dir`      => `env::set_current_dir`
* `os::homedir`         => `env::home_dir`
* `os::tmpdir`          => `env::temp_dir`
* `os::join_paths`      => `env::join_paths`
* `os::split_paths`     => `env::split_paths`
* `os::self_exe_name`   => `env::current_exe`
* `os::self_exe_path`   => use `env::current_exe` + `pop`
* `os::set_exit_status` => `env::set_exit_status`
* `os::get_exit_status` => `env::get_exit_status`
* `os::env`             => `env::vars`
* `os::env_as_bytes`    => `env::vars`
* `os::getenv`          => `env::var` or `env::var_string`
* `os::getenv_as_bytes` => `env::var`
* `os::setenv`          => `env::set_var`
* `os::unsetenv`        => `env::remove_var`

Many function signatures have also been tweaked for various purposes, but the
main changes were:

* `Vec`-returning APIs now all return iterators instead
* All APIs are now centered around `OsString` instead of `Vec<u8>` or `String`.
  There is currently on convenience API, `env::var_string`, which can be used to
  get the value of an environment variable as a unicode `String`.

All old APIs are `#[deprecated]` in-place and will remain for some time to allow
for migrations. The semantics of the APIs have been tweaked slightly with regard
to dealing with invalid unicode (panic instead of replacement).

The new `std::env` module is all contained within the `env` feature, so crates
must add the following to access the new APIs:

    #![feature(env)]
