994ccd30a0 Note that types do not have to be declared in closures
Without such a clarification, people who know and love closures (for instance
programmers with a Haskell background) might fear that types would have to
be declared in closures and that therefore using closures would be much more
unwieldy.

Second try to address https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/21196 . A lot that was removed at the end basically seemed repetitive showing simple variations on the same type. It seems more effective to just show more variants at the beginning instead.

If you want to pack values into an example, better to use `i32` or some digit than `String` because you don't need the `to_string()` method.

I didn't mention `derive` because:
* I can't explain it (only use it)
* I don't have a link to a good description (maybe rustbyexample but you probably want links internal)
* Giving more detail especially stating that `==` won't work and why should help quite a bit

I didn't `make test` or check links but I will if this will be merged.

747e6b53e4 rollup merge of #21832: genbattle/doc-unicode-escapes
Unicode escapes were changed in [this RFC](28aeb3c391/text/0446-es6-unicode-escapes.md) to use the ES6 \u{00FFFF} syntax with a variable number of digits from 1-6, eliminating the need for two different syntaxes for unicode literals.

I have updated The Reference and grammar.md to reflect these changes.

425f2328d0 rollup merge of #21754: semarie/openbsd-rebased
Hi.

Here a commit in order to add OpenBSD support to rust.

- tests status:
run-pass: test result: ok. 1879 passed; 0 failed; 24 ignored; 0 measured
run-fail: test result: ok. 81 passed; 0 failed; 5 ignored; 0 measured
compile-fail: test result: ok. 1634 passed; 0 failed; 22 ignored; 0 measured
run-pass-fulldeps: test result: ok. 22 passed; 0 failed; 1 ignored; 0 measured
compile-fail-fulldeps: test result: ok. 13 passed; 0 failed; 0 ignored; 0 measured

- The current implementation of load_self function (src/libstd/sys/unix/os.rs) isn't optimal as under OpenBSD I haven't found a reliable method to get the filename of a running process. The current implementation is enought for bootstrapping purpose.

- I have disable `run-pass/tcp-stress.rs` test under openbsd. When run manually, the test pass, but when run under `compiletest`, it timeout and echo continuoulsy `Too many open files`.

- For building with jemalloc, a more recent version of jemalloc would be mandatory. See https://github.com/jemalloc/jemalloc/pull/188 for more details.

ac1a03d742 rollup merge of #21718: alexcrichton/stabilize-from-str
This commits adds an associated type to the `FromStr` trait representing an
error payload for parses which do not succeed. The previous return value,
`Option<Self>` did not allow for this form of payload. After the associated type
was added, the following attributes were applied:

* `FromStr` is now stable
* `FromStr::Err` is now stable
* `FromStr::from_str` is now stable
* `StrExt::parse` is now stable
* `FromStr for bool` is now stable
* `FromStr for $float` is now stable
* `FromStr for $integral` is now stable
* Errors returned from stable `FromStr` implementations are stable
* Errors implement `Display` and `Error` (both impl blocks being `#[stable]`)

e9285f9e81 Auto merge of #21374 - dgrunwald:range-notation-fixes, r=nikomatsakis
This PR is intended as alternative to #20958. It fixes the same grammar inconsistencies, but does not increase the operator precedence of `..`, leaving it at the same level as the assignment operator.
For previous discussion, see #20811 and #20958.

Grammar changes:
* allow `for _ in 1..i {}` (fixes #20241)
* allow `for _ in 1.. {}` as infinite loop
* prevent use of range notation in contexts where only operators of high precedence are expected (fixes #20811)

Parser code cleanup:
* remove `RESTRICTION_NO_DOTS`
* make `AS_PREC` const and follow naming convention
* make `min_prec` inclusive

a0f86de497 Auto merge of #19353 - icorderi:docs/grammar, r=steveklabnik
Original [issue](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/19278) that inspired this patch.

The [reference.md] has evolved past simple grammatical constructs, and it serves a different purpose.
The intent for the proposed _grammar.md_ is to hold **only** the official reference for the language grammar. This document would keep track of grammatical changes to the language over time, facilitate discussions over proposed changes to the existing grammar, and serve as basis for building parsers by third-parties (IDE's, GitHub linguist, CodeMirror, etc.).

The current state of the PR contains all the grammars that were available in [reference.md] and nothing else.
There are still a lot of missing pieces that weren't available. The following are just a few of the definitions missing:
- [Functions](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#functions)
- [Structures](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#structures)
- [Traits](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#traits)
- [Implementations](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#implementations)
- [Operators](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#unary-operator-expressions)
- [Statements](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#statements)
- [Expressions](https://github.com/icorderi/rust/blob/docs/grammar/src/doc/grammar.md#expressions)

[reference.md]: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/blob/master/src/doc/reference.md

We need help from people familiar with those grammatical constructs to fill in the missing pieces.

This is a breaking change to due the usage of these attributes generating errors

7e2ef2cbc6 rollup merge of #21133: iKevinY/mobile-rustdoc
Just a couple of tweaks to improve the appearance of pages like [The Rust Reference](http://doc.rust-lang.org/reference.html) on mobile to advance the progress of #20850. Changing the viewport wasn't quite good enough to make it mobile-friendly, as large tables forced the page to become wider than the screen width. Using `overflow-x`, tables that are too large become horizontally scrollable instead of forcing the *entire page* to become horizontally scrollable.

Also, there was at least one case where an extremely long piece of inline code was wider than the actual width of the screen (`std::ptr::copy_nonoverlapping_memory`), so I changed `word-wrap` to allow inline code to break in the middle of words instead of only text within `pre` tags.

This isn't a change included in this PR, but rather something up for discussion. Currently, code blocks that contain long lines simply wrap onto the next line. What if rather than wrapping, they were horizontally scrollable instead? I'm not sure what the general preference is regarding this.
