Rollup merge of #55122 - ljedrz:cleanup_mir_borrowck, r=Mark-Simulacrum

Cleanup mir/borrowck

- remove a redundant `.clone()`
- a few string tweaks
- deduplicate assignments and `return`s
- simplify common patterns
- remove redundant `return`s
